EU sugar stakeholders have been facing dramatic changes since the implementation of the sugar reform in 2006. The reform transformed the structure of the EU sugar market, creating new challenges and opportunities for all those involved.

With the world market in a production-consumption deficit for the third year in a row, EU sugar users are facing an unprecedented situation; in some cases producers are struggling to ensure supply.  To add fuel to this fire of uncertainty, EU production quotas are scheduled to expire in 2014/15 – and no one knows what will replace them.

Over the past few months – and building on the success of our EU monthly sugar report - we have been conducting "one on one" workshops with some of the key players in this fast evolving EU market. However we have realized that we are unable to meet the demand.

To better answer the many requests that we have - and to assist EU stakeholders in their decisions on marketing and strategy - we have decided that it would be better to bring together a bigger audience – as well as  recognized expert speakers - in a Technical Workshop on  EU sugar procurement and trading to be held on Thursday 24th March at The Kempinski Hotel Geneva.

The Workshop will be dedicated to buyers, producers, traders and analysts who are involved in the EU sugar supply chain and who wish to improve their understanding of this complex market. The Workshop will open with a short general session placing the current EU situation in the context of the world market  but then will quickly move on to more technical aspects of procurement and trading practices.

We will consider that the workshop will be a success if you leave with a tool kit that enables you:

  • To add value to your daily decision making processes,
  • To better understand the choices and the risks behind those decisions,
  • To allow you to achieve best practice in terms of logistics and contracts
  • To turn challenges into opportunities
